youth leagues ATTN College Teams - Recruit at UPA Youth Club Championships!
This is a great opportunity to reach high school ultimate p_layer_s and inform them about your college programs! Get the word out about your school to a captive audience of the best p_layer_s in the country. http://www.upa.org/juniors/championships/YCC/collegeflyer Open letter to all College Ultimate Teams: As many of you are already aware, the UPA runs a number of Championship events for youth p_layer_s. In the spring, we run the High School Eastern and High School Western Championships, as well as State Championship events in 22 states. We also run a Youth Club Championship in Blaine, Minnesota every summer. The teams that compete in the Open, Women's and Mixed divisions of the Youth Club Championships are composed of p_layer_s from the local youth leagues. The p_layer_s on these teams often represent the most motivated and skilled p_layer_s from their respective communities. Info on the event here: http://youth2009.upa.org/ Having incoming freshman that know the game and can hit the ground running can be a huge benefit to any college program. More and more, I'm fielding questions from parents about what colleges and universities have Ultimate and how their son or daughter get in touch with the team when they do their fall school visits. I'd like to give the colleges the opportunity to reach out to the p_layer_s, starting with those that attend the Youth Club Championships. On Saturday night of the tournament, the evening activity will be a trade night and we'll set up a booth where p_layer_s can come by and pick up DVDs containing information on college programs. We'll also have a handful of printed copies for p_layer_s to flip through. If you would like your college program to be included in this DVD, you have the option to submit a 1 page pdf document (flyer) that contains the following information: - full college/university name - location (city, state) - what teams you have (open and/or women's) - contact information that will be current for 2010 (email required, website preferred but not required) - any other relevant info/design/logos We will not publish anything that is inappropriate for youth p_layer_s. This means any information regarding drinking, profanity, inappropriate team names etc. Other than that, you should feel free to use the 8 ½ by 11 space to promote your team and provide valuable information to youth p_layer_s. PDFs must be smaller than 3 MB. Please DO NOT send documents in any other format. If you are creating separate flyers for your Open and Women's teams, make sure it's clear which team the flyer is for. Send all 1 page PDF documents to: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it We do not allow soliciting at UPA events (you may not show up to hand out anything on the sidelines), but if you'd like to come watch the YCC and would like to know about renting a booth or getting information put in p_layer_ packs, please contact Matthew Bourland ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ). There are deadlines associated with booths and p_layer_ pack stuffing, so don't wait to find out the details. Creating a flyer to promote your college program to youth p_layer_s is entirely optional and completely free. If you would like to participate in this outreach effort, you must submit all flyers by July 31st. Remember: Email flyers to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it by July 31st. Best of luck with the 2010 season!
